After Foot Pursuit in Stafford, Trooper Arrests Woman Wanted by Massachusetts Agency

On 09/21/2024, at approximately 12:27 PM, Troop C in Tolland was contacted by the Monson Police Department in Massachusetts requesting assistance with locating and stopping a vehicle driven by an adult female, possibly under the influence of drugs, wanted for an incident which occurred in Monson, MA. The vehicle was described as a black Toyota Rav4 displaying a Massachusetts registration, with a flat tire being driven on the rim and traveling Southbound on Route 32 into Stafford, CT from MA.

Troop C dispatch personnel provided responding Troopers with updates of the Toyota’s direction of travel. A responding Trooper observed Monson Police Officers behind the Toyota traveling Westbound on Route 319 with their emergency lights and sirens engaged. The Trooper engaged their emergency lights and siren and positioned their cruiser directly behind the Toyota in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The operator of the Toyota initially complied and pulled over to the right and stopped partially within the Westbound travel lane and right shoulder of Route 319. Once stopped, the operator of the Toyota, later identified as Tiffany Marie Cahl (DOB 08/28/1997) of Monson, MA, exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.

Cahl engaged Police in a foot pursuit and was given several directives to stop running, but she refused to comply. After a brief foot pursuit, the Trooper, along with Monson Police Officers, caught up to Cahl and attempted to place her in handcuffs. Cahl began to physically resist Police efforts’ to be placed in handcuffs. With the assistance of Monson Officers, the Trooper was able to gain control of Cahl and secure her in handcuffs.

During the investigation, Cahl was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, to which she refused. Cahl requested medical attention and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. After being evaluated and released from the hospital, Cahl was transported to Troop C where she was processed and charged with the following violations:

C.G.S. 53a-167a, Interfering with an Officer

C.G.S. 14-222, Reckless Driving

Cahl was released on a $75,000 surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Rockville Superior Court on 10/02/2024.
