On Monday, 11/18/24 at approximately 4:30 AM, personnel from Troop H at Bradley International Airport (BIA) in Windsor Locks were dispatched to the TSA security checkpoint 20-30 lane 2 for a possible handgun located in a passenger's carry on bag.
Upon arrival, Troopers met with TSA personnel who had identified a handgun in a backpack during security screening. The handgun was determined to belong to Jason Hines (DOB 04/19/86), of Ashford. Hines explained to Troopers that he forgot the firearm was in his bag. Hines was arrested without incident and transported to Troop H BIA, where he was processed for the following charge:
CGS 15-69; Circumventing Airport Security
The handgun found in Hines' possession at the time of his arrest contained nine (9) live rounds of 9mm ammunition in the magazine. The firearm and ammunition were subsequently seized as evidence in this investigation.
Hines was later released from custody on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on 12/09/24. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
