On Friday, February 14, 2025, at approximately 5:10pm, Troopers assigned to Troop K-Colchester responded to a residence in Bozrah for reports of an active disturbance. The caller reported that William Perkins (DOB 11/13/1946), who resides in the home, pointed a firearm at another family member and was preventing them from leaving the residence.
Upon Troopers arrival, the victim was able to escape the residence and was escorted to a safe location where they informed Troopers that Perkins was still inside the residence with a loaded firearm. Perkins became a barricaded subject inside the residence that lasted approximately three hours. During this time, Perkins fired the handgun three separate times both inside and outside of the residence.
Numerous attempts were made at contacting Perkins by the phone with no success. At approximately 8:13 PM, Perkins was seen sitting near the front door, where Troopers were able to give him verbal commands. Perkins was then taken into custody without further incident. Once in custody, the firearm was located in close proximity to where Perkins was sitting. The firearm was subsequently seized as evidence in the investigation.
Perkins was initially transported to the hospital for evaluation, then later transported to Troop K for processing. Perkins was charged with the following charges:
