Fugitive from Justice Arrested at Air National Guard Security Gate in East Granby

On Thursday, 10/24/24 at approximately 11:38 AM, personnel from Troop H- Hartford at Bradley International Airport were dispatched to the Connecticut Air National Guard security gate on Rainbow Rd in East Granby to assist Air Guard Security Forces with a suspected fugitive from justice.

Upon Troopers' arrival, it was learned that John Culpepper (DOB 12/19/68), of East Hartford, had traveled to the Air National Guard base to inquire about renewing his military ID. Air Guard personnel subsequently conducted a check on Culpepper, at which point it was discovered that he had an active felony arrest warrant out of Escambia County, FL for violation of probation. Troop H dispatch verified that this arrest warrant was extraditable and confirmed with Florida authorities that they would take custody of Culpepper from Connecticut. Culpepper was positively identified by his CT license, and he explained to Troopers that he was aware of his charges in Florida but believed the matter had been resolved.

Culpepper was subsequently arrested and transported to Troop H, where he was processed on the following charge:

CGS 54-170; Extradition Arrest

Culpepper was held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on 10/25/24. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
