On Saturday, 03/29/2025 at approximately 9:10pm, Troop F-Westbrook dispatch received numerous 911 calls reporting a wrong way driver traveling southbound in the northbound travel lanes of Route 9 in the area of exit 5 in Essex.
Troopers quickly responded to the area and observed the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on the I-95 North exit 69 off-ramp. With emergency lights and sirens activated, a Trooper positioned their cruiser to prevent the driver from entering the highway. In response, the driver abruptly corrected course, making a U-turn in the grassy area off the right shoulder. The Trooper then repositioned their cruiser to safely bring the vehicle to a stop.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the Trooper directed the driver to exit. The driver was identified as Jaclyn M. Jerome (DOB: 04/08/1976) of Glastonbury. During the investigation, the Trooper observed several signs of impairment, including a strong odor of alcohol emanating from Jerome and slurred speech. When attempting to place Jerome in handcuffs, she became non-compliant and actively resisted.
Jerome was subsequently arrested and transported to Troop F where the Trooper continued their DUI investigation. Jerome was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which she ultimately did not perform to standard.
Jerome was processed and charged with the following violations:
C.G.S. 14-222 - Reckless Driving
