Hebron Man Arrested for Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell Following Traffic Stop in Griswold

On February 20, 2025, at approximately 8:17 PM, Troopers from Troop E - Montville conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for motor vehicle violations observed. During the course of the traffic stop, the operator was identified as Rocky Laurent (DOB 04/10/1978) of Hebron. Through a roadside investigation, Troopers observed several indicators of criminal activity taking place within the vehicle.


As a result, K9 Epic was dispatched to the scene. K9 Epic, who is certified in narcotics detection, was deployed for a "free air sniff" of the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Epic positively alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from within the vehicle.


A search of the vehicle yielded 18.5 grams of suspected "Crack" cocaine consistent with street level distribution. Furthermore, over $280.00 was seized in connection with this investigation. Laurent was arrested without incident and transported to Troop E for processing.


Laurent was charged with the following:


C.G.S. 21a-279 - Possession of a Controlled Substance


C.G.S. 21-277 - Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell


C.G.S. 14-242 - Improper Turn


Laurent was later released after posting a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on 03/06/2025.
