On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 3:20 PM, Troopers from Troop F - Westbrook were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on RT 9 southbound in the Town of Deep River. The Trooper observed a white Acura TL with a Connecticut registration affixed to the rear of the vehicle. A registration inquiry showed that the vehicle was not registered to any motor vehicle, and “No Record Found” was displayed.
Once the Trooper was behind the Acura, it made an abrupt U-Turn from the southbound side to the northbound side and began heading north on RT 9. A traffic stop was attempted, and the Acura failed to stop and began traveling at reckless speeds in an attempt to elude the Trooper. Due to concerns for public safety, the Trooper deactivated their emergency lights and siren, pulled to the shoulder and did not pursue the Acura.
The Acura was located a short time later, disabled in the left lane of Route 9 after it struck another vehicle from behind causing a collision. There were no injuries sustained to any party involved in the collision.
The driver and sole occupant of the Acura was identified as Meghan Lewonczyk (DOB 02/23/1987) of Manchester. Lewonczyk admitted to operating the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop, and stated that she did not have a license, that the vehicle was uninsured and unregistered, causing her to flee the traffic stop. A query of Lewonczyk's license showed that it was suspended by the Connecticut DMV. Lewonczyk was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop F for processing.

C.G.S. 14-296aa(b1st - Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using a Handheld Device
C.G.S. 38a-371 - Failure to Insure a Private Motor Vehicle
Lewonczyk was later released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court, on 02/21/2025.
