On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at approximately 12:23 PM, a Trooper from Troop H - Hartford was on patrol on I-91 north in the area of Exit 24. At this time, the Trooper observed a blue BMW 330I driving at a high rate of speed, much faster than the flow of traffic. The Trooper estimated the BMW speed to be in excess of 100mph and later confirmed its speed to be at 115mph.
Based on the violations observed, the Trooper activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop, however the operator failed to comply. The operator accelerated, began making unsafe lane changes, and driving in both shoulders and gore areas of the highway.
Due to the hazard posed to the public by the reckless operation by the operator, the Trooper terminated attempts to stop the eluding vehicle after obtaining the vehicle's registration. Troopers followed up at the registered owner's address, where they were able to speak with family members of the operator. The operator was identified as Shoaib Noori (DOB 04/03/2002), of Meriden. Noori later returned to the residence to speak with Troopers and was operating the BMW that had been involved in the incident.
Noori was arrested without incident and transported to Troop H for processing. Noori was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 14-223(A) - Disobeying the Signal of an Officer
C.G.S. 14-236 - Failure to Maintain Lane
C.G.S. 14-222 - Reckless Driving
C.G.S. 14-233 - Passing on the Right
C.G.S. 53a-167a - Interfering with an Officer
C.G.S. 53A-63 - Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree
Noori was later released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear at New Britain Superior Court on 03/20/2025.
