On December 12, 2024, Troopers from Troop H - Hartford responded to Macdougal Walker Correction Institution in the Town of Suffield for reported murder. Detectives from the Central District Major Crimes Squad responded to the scene, where the suspect was identified as Kyle McKinnon (DOB 03/24/1993).
McKinnon admitted to the murder, and an arrest warrant was submitted to Hartford Superior Court for review, which was later approved. On February 21, 2025, the warrant was served on McKinnon while he was in Department of Corrections custody on unrelated charges.
McKinnon was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 53a-54a - Murder
C.G.S. 53a-64aa - Strangulation in the First Degree
McKinnon was held on a court set $1,000,000 bond and was presented for same day arraignment at Hartford Superior Court.
