New London Woman Arrested for Reckless Driving w/ Children in Vehicle on Route 2 in Marlborough

On Saturday, 10/26/2024 at approximately 8:56 PM, a Trooper assigned to Troop K- Colchester was conducting proactive speed enforcement on Route 2 eastbound in Marlborough when they observed a gray sedan traveling at a high rate of speed within the left lane.

The Trooper was stationed at the Route 2 eastbound exit 13 entrance ramp when they made this observation, and subsequently clocked the vehicle traveling at 109 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone with their assigned laser unit. The Trooper activated their emergency lights and siren and attempted to catch up to the vehicle, which maintained its high rate of speed. Once behind the vehicle, identified as a gray Honda Civic displaying a Connecticut registration, the operator complied and came to a complete stop in the right shoulder. As the Trooper exited their cruiser and approached the vehicle, they observed an infant and young child in the back seat, along with an adult female passenger and an adult female driver. The driver was identified as Brianna Guerin (DOB: 04/17/2003) of New London. When asked why she was speeding, Guerin told the Trooper that she needed to use the bathroom, despite having passed several rest areas prior to the traffic stop. Additionally, a DMV query revealed that the vehicle's registration was suspended due to non-compliance with insurance requirements.

Based on the information the Trooper obtained during this investigation, Guerin was arrested and transported to Troop K for processing. Guerin was ultimately charged with the following violations:

C.G.S. 14-215; Illegal Operation of a Motor Vehicle Under Suspension

C.G.S. 14-222; Reckless Driving

C.G.S. 53a-21; Risk of Injury to a Child (2 counts)

C.G.S. 53a-64; Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree

Following arrest processing, Guerin was released on a $1,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Manchester Superior Court on 11/18/2024.

A DCF referral was made as a result of this incident.
