On Sunday April 27, 2025, at approximately 8:32 AM, Troopers from Troop F - Westbrook, were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on I-95 north in Town of Madison. Troopers observed a dark colored SUV traveling at a high rate of speed in the left lane. Troopers determined the vehicle was traveling in excess of 100 mph.

After clocking the vehicle's speed and determining it to be at 102 mph, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle when the operator stopped in the center median. The operator was identified as Danielle DaSilva of Brooklyn, NY. DaSilva explained that she was speeding because she was running late to a "Thomas the Train" event in Essex. A two-year-old juvenile was observed in the back seat of the vehicle.

DaSilva was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Troop F for processing where she was charged with the following:

C.G.S. 14-222 - Reckless Driving

C.G.S. 63a-64 - Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree

C.G.S. 53-21 - Risk of Injury to a Minor

C.G.S. 14-283e - Failure to Stop on Right Side of Road

Dasilva was later released on a $500 bond and is set to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 05/16/2025.
