Norwalk Man Arrested for Reckless Driving; Engaging in Pursuit After Attempted Traffic Stop in Norwalk

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, at approximately 9:54 PM, Troopers from Troop G - Bridgeport attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a blue BMW sedan with no rear registration plate for traveling recklessly in speeds excess of 100mph on Interstate 95 north, in the City of Norwalk.


Upon the activation of emergency lights and siren, the operator accelerated at a high rate of speed in an attempt to engage Troopers in pursuit. In the interest of public safety, the vehicle was not pursued. Troopers later located the vehicle on side roads in the Town of Fairfield and were able to follow the vehicle from a distance. The vehicle was eventually boxed in and successfully stopped.


The operator complied with verbal commands and exited the vehicle without further incident. The operator, identified as Joshua Z. Tarzia (DOB 11/10/2000) of Norwalk, was immediately placed under arrest.


Tarzia was transported to Troop G for processing where he was charged with the following:


C.G.S 53a-64 - Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree


C.G.S 53a-167a - Interfering with an Officer


C.G.S 14-223(b)** - Engaging Police in Pursuit


C.G.S 14-222 - Reckless Driving


C.G.S 14-213b - Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Minimum Insurance


C.G.S 14-12(a)* - Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle


Tarzia was issued a $5,000 bond which he was able to post. Tarzia was later released and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on 03/10/2025.
