NY Man Clocked at 118 MPH on I-84 in Willington

On Saturday, 10/26/24 at approximately 7:21 AM, a Trooper assigned to Troop C- Tolland was patrolling I-84 eastbound near exit 69 in Tolland. The Trooper was traveling in the right lane of three when they were passed in the left lane by a blue Hyundai Elantra bearing New York plates. The vehicle was traveling at a rate of speed which was clearly higher than the posted speed limit of 65 mph.

The Trooper transitioned to the left lane and began to accelerate in efforts to catch up with this vehicle. The Trooper subsequently began to clock the vehicle's speed by calibrated speedometer, to which the Trooper observed speeds ranging from 113-118 mph. Based upon these observations, the Trooper activated their emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle complied and pulled over to the right shoulder in the area of exit 71 in Willington. The operator was positively identified as Aaron Terron (DOB 08/15/91), of Brooklyn, NY. Upon asking Terron why he was driving at such a high rate of speed, Terron explained to the Trooper that he was heading to Salem, MA for Halloween festivities.

Terron was subsequently arrested without incident and transported to Troop C, where he was processed for the following charge:

CGS 14-222; Reckless Driving

Terron was later released from custody on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on 11/13/24. Please see the attached criminal information summary.
