State Police Identify Two Persons Located in Flooded Waters in Oxford

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 5:12 p.m., State Police responded to Route 67 in Oxford for a report of two missing persons. The heavy rainfall led to flooding, which caused some motor vehicles and their occupants to be swept away by the raging waters.

 

During rescue operations on August 19, 2024, rescuers located the two missing individuals.

 

Ethelyn Joiner (DOB 12/21/1958) and Audrey Rostkowski (DOB 02/24/1953), both Oxford residents, were found deceased after being swept away from their vehicles. Their next of kin have been notified; the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the scene.
