Thompson Man Arrested Following Successful K9 Track; Facing Burglary and Narcotics Charges

On 07/04/2024 at approximately 1139 hours, personnel from Troop D-Danielson were dispatched to an address on Brandy Hill Rd in Thompson for the report of a male walking through back yards of private residences. While Troopers were responding, it was additionally reported the male had run from neighbors in the area and possibly entered a residence through a basement window.


Troopers responded along with K9 Boss and a K9 track was conducted. Boss tracked to a residence on Brandy Hill and a building search was conducted. The accused was found hiding in a small room behind a washing machine in the basement of the residence. The accused was given verbal commands and came out with his hands up, to which the accused complied. A search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of narcotics. The accused was positively identified as Christopher Sargent, (DOB 02/15/88).


Sargent was taken into custody for violation of C.G.S. 53a-103 Burglary in the 3rd Degree, C.G.S. 53a-167a Interfering with Police and C.G.S. 21a-279 Possession of a Controlled Substance. Furthermore, it was learned that Sargent had an active arrest warrant from a May 2024 incident in Putnam, which was served. Sargent was additionally charged with violation of C.G.S. 53a-107 Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, C.G.S. 53a-125b Larceny in the 6th Degree, and C.G.S. 53a-181 Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree pursuant to the active warrant. Sargent was later released from custody on a total $7,500 in bond and is scheduled to appear at Danielson Superior Court on 7/18/24 for the above referenced charges.
