On January 8, 2025, at approximately 7:06 PM, Troopers from Troop C - Tolland responded to a business on Adamec Road in the Town of Willington for a report of a large fight. 911 callers reported that there were approximately 15-20 people actively working to break up a fight that had started between a few individuals.
Once on scene, Troopers located one victim, a 66-year-old male, with a severe head laceration. Local EMS was called, and the male was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Troopers began to speak with numerous witnesses and worked to identify the individuals who had initially begun the fight. Witnesses stated that a party of individuals was being loud and disruptive in the establishment when the victim repeatedly asked them to quiet down. Two males then got up and assaulted the victim, when a third male threw a glass at the victim's head, striking him and causing the laceration.
State Police continued their investigation and reviewed camera footage when they were able to identify all three males who had initiated the assault. Baylor Lapointe (DOB 11/16/1995) of Wethersfield, and Joseph Reilly (DOB 02/23/1998) of Tolland, were identified as the two who initially assaulted the victim. John Browdy (DOB 08/14/1998) of Manchester was identified as the male who threw the glass at the victim's head.
Browdy was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 53a-60b - Assault in the Second Degree on an Elderly Victim
C.G.S. 53a-181 - Breach of Peace in the Second Degree
Lapointe and Reilly were both charged with the following:
C.G.S. 53a-181 - Breach of Peace in the Second Degree
C.G.S.53a-61a - Assault in the Third Degree on an Elderly Victim
Browdy was issued a $20,000 bond, while Lapointe and Reilly were issued $5,000 bonds. All three men were released, awaiting a court date of 01/22/2025 at Rockville Superior Court.
