On Thursday, 02/20/25 at approximately 2:07 PM, personnel assigned to Troop A- Southbury were advised that the New York State Police and Westchester County, NY Police were in pursuit of a silver Audi A4 sedan traveling north on I-684 to I-84 east approaching the Connecticut state line. It was learned that NY authorities were pursuing the vehicle as its occupants were reportedly involved in an attempted auto theft in Westchester County.
Troopers from Troop A took stationary posts along I-84 in Danbury near the NY state line. Due to the nature of the incident, the use of stop sticks were authorized. Shortly thereafter, Troopers observed the described vehicle entering CT on I-84 at an extremely high rate of speed. Stop sticks were successfully deployed as the Audi ran over them, however continued eastbound on I-84 at the same rate of speed. As Troopers began to search for the vehicle, Troop A received calls of a single vehicle accident into the median near exit 2. As Troopers arrived on scene, it became apparent that the vehicle which had crashed was the same vehicle that ran over stop sticks in the vicinity of exit 1. Troopers learned from multiple witnesses on scene that there were three (3) males who exited the car following the collision with the center median and had fled on foot. Witness accounts placed the individuals running from the highway onto Mill Plain Rd. in Danbury.
Troopers and Danbury Police Officers began to canvass the area in efforts to locate the three individuals who fled the scene of the accident. With additional assistance from the Danbury community, multiple 911 calls were received reporting sightings of each one of these individuals. All three were subsequently located and arrested without incident in short order following the accident, approximately 1/4 mile from the scene.
The three males were positively identified, to which two of the three were learned to be juveniles. The third male was identified as Antoine Maurice Clark (DOB 06/21/06), of Meriden. Further on-scene investigation determined that the Audi A4 displayed a misuse registration plate of a similar make and model. The vehicle itself was determined to be legally registered and insured.
All three were transported to Troop A for processing. Clark was processed on the following charges:
CGS 14-147(c); Improper Use of Registration Plate
CGS 14-222; Reckless Driving
CGS 14-223(b)**; Engaging Police in Pursuit
CGS 14-224(b)(3); Evading Responsibility
CGS 14-36(a); Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License
CGS 53a-167a; Interfering with an Officer/Resisting
Both juveniles were processed on the same charges and are scheduled to appear at New Britain Juvenile Court on 02/27/25. Clark was held on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on 02/21/25. Please see the attached criminal information summary; this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
