On March 3, 2025, at approximately 7:10 PM, Troopers from Troop B - North Canaan responded to the exit 50 off ramp from RT 8 southbound for reports of a vehicle stopped and blocking traffic on the ramp. Once on scene, Troopers located a gray Toyota Yaris stopped in a travel lane. A Trooper approached the vehicle and immediately noticed a female slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle, with the vehicle still turned on and in drive.

After a few moments, the Trooper was able to awake the female and identified her as Rebecca Johnson (DOB 12/13/1985) of Torrington. While speaking with Johnson, Troopers suspected her to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and requested that she perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Johnson complied, and ultimately did not perform the tests to standard.

Johnson was subsequently placed under arrest, and a search of the vehicle incident to arrest was conducted. Eight bags of suspected narcotics were located under the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Johnson was then transported to Troop B for processing. Johnson was charged with the following:

C.G.S. 14-227a - Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs

C.G.S. 14-251(c) - Improper Parking on a Highway

C.G.S. 21a-279 - Possession of Controlled Substance

Johnson was later released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court on 03/17/2025.
