On Thursday, 12/12/24, at approximately 7:54 PM, personnel from Troop G- Bridgeport were dispatched to the area of I-684 in Greenwich between exits 2-3 for a reported aircraft accident in the center median.
On scene investigation determined that the plane was occupied by a pilot and one passenger. The pilot has been identified as Kalmen Goldberger (DOB 12/20/97) of Linden, NJ. Goldberger was transported to an area hospital in New York for minor injuries sustained from the accident. The passenger has been identified as Jacob Yankele Friedman (DOB 12/29/91) of Monsey, NY. Friedman was pronounced deceased on scene, next of kin and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner were notified.
The New York State Police, Westchester County Police, and surrounding area Fire Departments assisted the Connecticut State Police with closure of I-684 in both directions. I-684 remained entirely closed for approximately seven hours during the course of this investigation.
The Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Connecticut Airport Authority were all advised of this incident. The National Transportation Safety Board has assumed investigation of the crash itself.
