On 06/28/24 at approximately 9:17 AM, Troopers from Troop I- Bethany were dispatched to the I-91 southbound exit 13 on ramp in Wallingford for a reported car vs. pedestrian motor vehicle accident. On scene investigation determined that the pedestrian struck was a CT DOT employee, who was working alongside the shoulder of the exit 13 on ramp policing trash for mowing crews. A vehicle traveling on the exit 13 on ramp left the travel portion of the roadway and struck the DOT employee, who has been identified as Andew DiDomenico DOB 02/09/98, of Meriden. DiDomenico sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced at the scene. The operator who struck DiDomenico remained on scene following the accident, and is currently in State Police custody. The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (C.A.R.S) Unit responded to assist with the investigation. Further updates pertaining to charges and the operator's identity will be posted at a later time. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, anyone traveling in the area is asked to seek an alternative route while the scene remains active with the ramp closure.
