On Friday, 11/15/24 at approximately 10:35 AM, school security at Cheney Tech notified the School Resource Officer of a suspicious powdery substance which was found on the floor of a bathroom. Field testing was administered as part of this investigation, to which the substance is suspected to have been fentanyl.
There have been no reported incidents of exposure or injury, and school has been dismissed early as a precaution. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and there is no threat to the public at this time.
