On Monday, 01/13/25, Logan Diaz-Lopardo (DOB 02/07/2003), of Torrington, and Abbigale Whipple (DOB 02/25/2004), also of Torrington, were both arrested by Western District Major Crimes on the strength of active arrest warrants. The warrants for their arrest stemmed from an investigation which began on 07/28/24. Kevin Gangell (DOB 06/19/2000), was struck and killed by a vehicle being operated by Diaz-Lopardo on this date, and Whipple was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Both Diaz-Lopardo and Whipple were arrested in Torrington and transported to Troop L in Litchfield, where they were processed on the following charges pursuant to their respective warrants:
Diaz-Lopardo:
CGS 53a-55(a)(1); Manslaughter in the First Degree w/Intent to Injure
CGS 53a-55(a)(3); Manslaughter in the First Degree w/Grave Risk of Death
CGS 53a-48/53a-55(a)(1); Conspiracy to Commit Manslaughter in the First Degree
Whipple:
CGS 53a-48/53a-55(a)(1); Conspiracy to Commit Manslaughter in the First Degree
CGS 53a-8(a)/53a-55(a)(3); Accessory to Manslaughter in the First Degree
Diaz-Lopardo was held on a $500,000 bond and Whipple was held on a $250,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear at Torrington Superior Court on 01/14/25. Please see the attached arrest warrants and criminal information summary.
