On May 7, 2024, at approximately 12:37 AM, Troopers from Troop H - Hartford were dispatched to a reported highway shooting on I-384 in Manchester. The victim had reported a shooting incident, exited I-384, and stopped at a nearby Manchester Police Officer. After finding out the incident took place on the highway, a Detective with the Central District Major Crime Squad was called to investigate.
The victim reported that the driver of an unknown vehicle had shot at his vehicle, striking it several times and breaking the rear windshield. The victim was uninjured as a result of the shooting. Troopers shut I-384 down, where a search located five shell casings in the roadway.
Through investigative efforts, Troopers identified a suspect and suspect vehicle. The suspect, Tyshon Walker (DOB 07/07/1998) of Vernon, was believed to be driving a dark colored BMW. Walker was also wanted by the East Hartford Police Department for an unrelated shooting in their town. Detectives secured a search and seizure warrant that was executed on Walker's residence with the assistance of the State Police Tactical Unit. Walker was inside the residence, and after initially disobeying orders, was eventually taken into custody and turned over to the East Hartford Police Department.
The search warrant revealed numerous narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia, and a Glock Gen4 with an automatic switch and an extended magazine containing twenty-one (21) rounds of ammunition. Furthermore, the registration affixed to the vehicle that initially shot at the victim was located inside the residence.
Based on all investigative steps, Detectives applied for an arrest warrant which was signed by the Honorable Judge Droney of Hartford Superior Court. On 01/16/2025, Walker was processed on the arrest warrant while he was incarcerated at Hartford Correctional Center on unrelated charges.
Walker was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 53a-217 - Criminal Possession of a Firearm
C.G.S. 53-202c - Possession of an Assault Weapon
C.G.S. 53a-49/53a-59 - Criminal Attempt to Commit Assault First Degree
Walker was held on a court set $1,000,000 bond, awaiting a court date of 01/17/2025 at Hartford Superior Court.
