On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at approximately 3:10 PM, Troopers from Troop A - Southbury were on patrol conducting motor vehicle enforcement on I-84 eastbound, in the area of Exit 16 in the Town of Southbury. Troopers observed a 2007 white Ford Edge with several motor vehicle violations to include a suspended registration due to insurance compliance.
Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle when it began to increase speed and utilize all lanes of travel in an attempt to engage Troopers in a pursuit. Based on the circumstances and accordance with state policy, the vehicle was not pursued in the interest of public safety.
An inquiry of the registration that was affixed to the rear of the vehicle showed it to be registered to Quanda James (DOB 11/30/1985) of Waterbury. Furthermore, the female operator at the time of the incident was confirmed to be James through her DMV photograph.
Based on this information, Troopers went to James' last known address where they were able to locate her and place her under arrest without incident. James was then transported to Troop A for processing where she was charged with the following:
C.G.S. 14-223b**- Engaging Police in Pursuit
