Waterbury Woman Arrested for Reckless Driving in Construction Zone on I-95 in Old Saybrook

On Thursday, 03/13/2025 at approximately 1:14pm, a Trooper was parked within the construction pattern while working a highway construction project on I-95 north in Old Saybrook. The project consisted of a right lane closure between exits 67 and 69.


During this time, the Trooper observed a gray Chevrolet Cruze speeding through the construction zone, traveling on the left shoulder and passing other vehicles at an estimated speed of 90 mph. In response, the Trooper quickly caught up to the vehicle, activated emergency lights and siren, and initiated a traffic stop. The driver complied and pulled over to the right shoulder near exit 69.


The Trooper approached the Chevrolet and began speaking with the driver, who was identified as Tanaja Shequana Mckune (DOB: 05/20/1992). During their conversation, Mckune admitted to driving at a speed of 90 mph.


As a result of this investigation, Mckune was placed under arrest and transported to Troop F in Westbrook for processing, where she was charged with the following violation:


C.G.S. 14-222z - Reckless Driving in a Construction Zone


Following arrest processing, Mckune was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 03/27/2025.
